We Started With A Simple Question

Why does startup financial guidance feel so disconnected from what founders actually need?

Back in early 2019, three of us sat in a cramped Brisbane office watching another promising startup fold. Not because the idea was bad. The financials just got away from them.

We'd seen it happen before. Smart people with genuine market opportunities getting tripped up by cash flow blindness, funding missteps, or just plain confusion about what their numbers meant.

So we built feralquintor. Not as another finance consultancy with rigid templates and billable hours. More like a practical resource that speaks your language when you're trying to figure out if you can afford that next hire or when to approach investors.

How We Actually Work

Most financial advice for startups comes in two flavours. Either it's generic blog content that doesn't address your specific situation, or it's enterprise-level consulting that costs more than your monthly burn rate.

We noticed this gap around 2020 and spent the better part of a year just talking to founders. What kept them up at night? Runway calculations. Cap table confusion. Whether their pricing model made sense.

The educational framework we developed focuses on these real concerns. We don't teach abstract financial theory. Instead, we walk through scenarios you'll actually encounter when building a business in Australia's startup scene.

What Makes Our Approach Different

Context Over Theory

We teach financial concepts through the lens of Australian startup realities. GST registration timing, R&D tax incentives, ESOP structures that work here. Not just textbook principles.

Stages That Matter

Pre-revenue needs different guidance than post-Series A. We structure learning around where you actually are, not where some curriculum says you should be.

Practical Tools First

You'll build forecasting models, learn scenario planning, and create investor materials. Real outputs you can use next week, not just concepts to remember.

What We Stand For

Honest About Complexity

Startup finance isn't simple, and we won't pretend it is. But complex doesn't mean inaccessible. We break down difficult concepts without dumbing them down or oversimplifying the nuances that actually matter.

Respectful Of Your Time

Founders don't have hours to spend on theoretical frameworks. Our programs run September 2025 through March 2026, designed around realistic schedules. Learn what you need when you need it, without filler content.

Focused On Application

Every session includes something you can implement immediately. Whether that's a forecasting template, a pitch deck financial section, or a framework for evaluating funding options. Learning happens through doing.

Connected To Reality

We update content based on what's happening now in the Australian startup ecosystem. Market conditions change, investor expectations shift, and our curriculum adapts accordingly rather than staying static.
